Music eScape

Music eScape is an Apple app that supports users in using music to help manage their mood. The app will create a “mood map” of the music in a user’s iTunes library by tagging each song with a mood. However, as music is very personal, users will then have the opportunity to review the tags assigned by the app and retag songs as needed. Music eScape then creates playlists that are appropriate for different moods and situations, such as “cheer up,” “wake up,” and “focus.” Users can also create their own playlists. Additionally, a unique interface allows users to use a finger to draw a path from their current mood to a preferred mood, directing Music eScape to craft a playlist to effect a desired change in mood. Music eScape may be a good choice for users who are seeking a way to actively control minor changes in their moods. The app may be particularly appropriate for adolescents and young adults, who often use music as a form of self-expression.
