Self-Help for Anxiety Management

Self-Help for Anxiety Management (SAM) is an app for all mobile devices intended for individuals who suffer from significant anxiety. Designed by a team of research psychologists and computer scientists in England, SAM was created to be effective, user-friendly, and evidenced-based. It provides users with a symptom tracker, educational articles and external links, relaxation techniques, and additional coping skills and practice for managing anxiety. SAM is also trialing a “Social Cloud,” a closed social networking function that allows SAM users to share experiences, suggestions, and support. SAM can be used in conjunction with a mental health professional or on its own; while not a replacement for traditional treatments for anxiety, it is likely to be particularly helpful for individuals who do not have access to them.
