Wildflowers is an app for all mobile devices designed to introduce users to mindfulness meditation practice. Wildflowers helps users to get familiar with basic meditation techniques through interactive lessons. It also includes a library of meditations, including a feature that provides a customized experience by suggesting meditations based on the user’s mood. An innovative feature of Wildflowers is that it uses the camera included in most smartphones to analyze the user’s skin tone in order to measure their heart rate before and after meditation, a useful measure of the effectiveness of the meditation. Additionally, the app includes a journal that allow the user to rate their mood and track their progress over time. While it is not designed to directly address mental illness, Wildflowers may be a good choice for users who are looking for general stress reduction and/or those who are having trouble including relaxation or wellness practice in their daily lives.
